Online dating can be a rollercoaster of emotions and one of the biggest challenges many face is risking their ego.

Text messages and what they tell you in online dating

Over the years, many men have asked me how to become a better conversationalist in online dating, especially when they are sending text messages to women on the Internet. I often teach them what to say to women online. I have field-tested those text messages, and I know they work. However, I also know that those text messages wouldn’t always go according to our plan. But that doesn’t mean something is wrong.

Truthfully, text messages are effective revealers, although they may not always get the results you like. A text message can reveal that someone is unwilling to invest in you. It can also show you when someone doesn’t have a good sense of humour or is just wrong for you. Finding these out early can save you a lot of time, even if it’s not the result you want. Realism is something you should embrace in dating and relationships. Then, you will be able to find the right woman online.

Learning how to talk to women reveals something about yourself

When I was teaching men what to say to women online, some men told me that certain text messages felt wrong to send. Then I asked them why they felt out of character for them. Their honest answers are very valuable. When a message feels out of character, that means they are not bringing out a particular part of their character in the dynamic.

For instance, I asked a guy to send a flirtatious message, but he was worried that would go wrong. That was because he hadn’t flirted with women at all. The real problem is the way he communicates with women, not the message that I asked him to send. In the end, I asked him to become more flirtatious so he could change his dynamic to a more productive one. One that can build more momentum in online dating.

Something new might feel wrong to you because it involves a risk.

Trying something new, like online dating, can feel uncomfortable because it involves taking a risk. Note that being unwilling to take a risk is possibly the biggest risk of all.

You must risk your ego in online dating. You can’t let your pride stop you from pursuing what makes you truly happy in life. It’s normal to feel unsure about stepping into something unfamiliar, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. But remember, growth often happens when we try things that make us uncomfortable.

Sometimes your pride wants to protect your ego, and that can be positive. For example, your pride stops you from chasing a woman who is not reciprocating. Sometimes, pride stops you from doing productive things. For example, you might avoid talking to women due to fear of rejection. This can contract your dating life to the point where it’s difficult to have opportunities.

Balance pride with proactivity in dating and relationships. You should be proactive until doing so is no longer respectful to yourself. That is when it’s pretty clear that she doesn’t want to invest in you. This can be true even if you have invested in her already.

Remember that even when you make a mistake in a text message, it doesn’t really matter; it’s normal. So, do not agonise over a message that you have already sent or wait desperately for a reply. Spend some time on a legitimate international dating website like Simply Dating, and then happily get on with your day. I’m sure you can explain what happened in the next message later on. You will feel more calm when you know what you are doing!

Don’t even try to be perfect. Just be human. Even if one text message goes very wrong, there isn’t a lot to lose either, as the right Eastern European woman wouldn’t run away so easily. Have faith in the right person!
