When you’re on a first date—especially with someone from a different culture like a Slavic woman—reading the room is everything. You don’t want to come on too strong, but you also don’t want to seem disinterested. That’s where calibration comes in. That only happened when I was much younger. Now I’m looking for something serious because I’m looking for a long-term relationship.” But if her assumption is wrong, simply tell her that’s not true.
