Research shows that there are four types of attachment styles: 1) secure attachment; 2) anxious-insecure attachment; 3) avoidant-insecure attachment; 4) disorganized-insecure attachment. Which attachment style is your style in romantic relationships? ?

  • Secure attachment:

Those who experienced secure childhood attachment usually move on to very successful and happy romantic relationships when they become adults. ?

These individuals are supportive, honest and very comfortable with sharing their emotions and feelings with someone else. Secure attachment is able to prepare a person for a wide variety of social challenges, thereby leading to their success in intimate relationships. ❤️

As you chat with Ukraine women, you know you have met a lady whose attachment style is healthy if she is confident, helpful and relaxed throughout the communication with you. ?

  • Anxious-insecure attachment:

People with an anxious-insecure attachment style tend to be quite possessive and demanding in intimate relationships. They are more likely to become codependent, unfortunately. ☹

Daters in this category always second-guessing if they have done too little or too much for their romantic relationship.

  • Avoidant-insecure attachment:

We all know somebody who simply wouldn’t commit when it comes to dating & relationships. People with avoidant-insecure attachment might avoid intimate relationships altogether. They oftentimes seem fearful or dismissive; as a consequence, they keep other people at a distance! ?

Having said that, most people probably don’t have severe avoidant-insecure attachment. Now I’d like to show you a real example in which 2 people have different attachment styles:

Linda and her husband Anthony live in a small apartment in New York City. Because their apartment is very small, they don’t have a washing machine. Therefore, Linda takes their laundry to her cousin’s place to do laundry once a week.

We really need to buy a washing machine,” says Anthony, “Then we will be able to do laundry at home.”

No,” Linda disagrees with Anthony, “Our apartment is too small to have a washing machine. We need more space for other things here.”

Their marriage seems a bit difficult because of the washing machine topic. Further examination reveals that Anthony’s attachment style is anxious-insecure attachment; thus, he feels anxious when Linda isn’t at home with him – Linda has to go to her cousin’s place to get the laundry done once a week. Nevertheless, Linda’s attachment style is avoidant-insecure attachment; hence, she truly enjoys her time at her cousin’s place where she doesn’t have to be with Anthony. ?

These two people aren’t extreme examples of the above-mentioned two very different attachment styles; people like Linda and Anthony are extremely common. ?

  • Disorganized-insecure attachment:

Individuals with disorganized-insecure attachment aren’t very common. These people often have trouble with self-regulation and even show impaired formal operational skills.

Although previous studies suggest that the attachment style which you have developed in your childhood remain unchanged forever, a recent study points out that you are able to change the way your brain works even if you are already an adult. Here is how to effectively change your brain based on neuroscience:

  1. Be aware of the issue – having awareness makes you notice the problem.
  2. Decide that you genuinely want to change the way your brain operates.
  3. Make that change!
